Catalog Bodyboard Culture

Adam Dumas

Name: Adam Dumas

Age: 26

Location: Holding down the underground in Newport Beach/Huntington Beach.

Sponsors: Custom X

Breaks: Wedge is my home break and there are a couple other places that I cannot name.

Number of years DKing: I have been dropping the knee for about 8 years I think, and I love it.

Why do you DK? The reason I started riding DK was that I didn’t really like laying down on my bodyboard in little waves. Don’t get me wrong, prone is sick, but it is a totally different perspective of riding a wave on the knee.

Big barrel, big snap, big air, or big floater? Love to pull into big barrels, execute a huge snap in a critical section, big airs are super sick; but it’s not always easy getting two hundred pounds of mass off the top of a lip. Hahaha. Most definitely, DK floaters are mental. Love em.

Who are the DKers that have influenced you? The guys who have influenced me were not big names, but they were really good riders: Curtis Jansen, Andrew “Kid Irie” Ebert. Then there were guys like JJ Ayala, Robbie Crawford, Scottie Carter, and a few others.

Who are the guys killing it today? There are so many people killing it in the underground nowadays that there are too many to name. My close friend Colin Mckeown kills it, Jeff Bragg, Bobby Kithcart, James Dawson, Wally Sani, Smokey, Enrique de Solar. All those guys are pushing the envelope of DK in southern California. Leroy Kaiwi, Kim Feast, Mason Rose, Derek Miyashiro, Kaleo Patterson, Leslie Obara, Bud Miyamoto, Dubb, Grant Maloney, Matt Lackey.

What can we look forward to seeing from you in DK4LIFE?
I don’ really know what you could expect to see from me in this video. I am trying to get Robbie Crawford to come and film, but he is always too busy golfing or something. Hahaha! J/K Robbie. Na, but hopefully something sick ya ya no!
